2013-14 SEASON
OK, here we are with another season over. This was the 3rd full year of competition for County Speedway. It was no surprise that Jim Toye took top honours, as he consistently brought fast cars and great driving. Tim Snyder edged out Glenn Westendorp for 3rd place. The closest margin was for 5th place, with Hugh McKendrick taking it by only 32 points over Walt Ralston.
Special thanks to Tim Snyder for generously loaning his cars and for helping racers with their own cars to get them running and handling properly. You really helped to create an even field of competition.
We had a short meeting after the last race, and we decided we like the way things are going so there will be no rule changes. However, we did urge drivers to install interiors, windshields and numbers on all cars, as well as get the tires within the body panels.
We may have a build-test-tune night once a month if anyone wants to. This would help everyone get their rides ready, and for some, to learn how to put these things together. It could also hopefully inspire some of us busy old guys to build some new stuff.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this another excellent year. - JVS
