We had a great night of racing Friday. Thirteen racers showed up to battle the Creditville circuit including 2 new faces. Riley Edwards, a buddy of Travis 'Murdoch' Ralston had never seen a real slot car track before, but he was all smiles as he piloted a replica NASCAR through the twisting course. Tim Snyder also made his first trip to the farm house, but he came with many years of racing experience and his own cars. He lost no time putting his black and yellow late-model Impala into the Main Feature, where he took 3rd place. Watch out for Tim as he learns the tricks of County Speedway. Glen Westendorp, one of our faithful competitors, was our fastest qualifier. He also won his heat, advancing himself and his #27 TransAm to the Feature. In the 100 lap final, Glen was leading until around lap 40 when he spun and hit the wall in turn number 4. Jeff Van Stemp was able to pass him as the marshall re-slotted his steed, and Glen, although charging valiantly, was unable to retake the lead and had to settle for 2nd. Andy Van Stemp was kept out of the Main Feature for the first time in County Speedway history, as he was unable to beat his father in their heat race. The Feature included Jeff Van Stemp, Glen Westendorp, Tim Snyder and Hugh McKendrick, finishing in that order. This was the first Feature of Hugh's career. Geoff 'Shredder' Sheridan arrived with his brand new 'Go Daddy' NASCAR, but had to race with his left hand because his right wrist had recent major surgery. See you all on April 26 - we have only 4 races left for the 2012-13 season.
