POINTS SYSTEM
County Speedway holds races once a month. Points are collected each race night and drivers compete for an annual championship. Points are awarded for qualifying, heat races and for the final positioning of the race night.
The race program begins with each driver running a 10 lap qualifier. Then the drivers are divided into heat races according to qualifying placement. If there are 4 heat races, then the 1st qualifier will be in heat 1, 2nd in heat 2, 3rd in heat 3, 4th in heat 4, 5th in heat 4, 6th in heat 3, 7th in heat 2, 8th in heat 1, 9th in heat 1, 10th in heat 2, 11th in heat 3, 12th in heat 4, 13th in heat 4, 14th in heat 3 and so on. Heat races are 75 laps.
Since we have a 4-lane track, the winners from each of the 4 heats will advance to the Main Feature, the 2nd place drivers to the Little Feature, the 3rd place drivers to the Bantam Feature, and the last place drivers to the Consolation Race.
The Final Position Points are awarded according to placement in the Feature races, with the winner of the Main Feature being awarded 1st, the winner of the Little Feature being awarded 5th and so on.
Points are accumulated monthly and put towards the season championship. At the final season tally, all racers are docked the total points from their worst race night, that being 0 if they missed a race night. This allows all racers the grace of missing one race during the year and still being able to compete for the championship.
The most points possible to collect on one race night is 200.
